Following the sale to Brookfield Business Partners, Scientific Games’ focus is now back on the lottery sector, including providing sports betting to lottery partners. And who better to lead the charge than Steve Beason, who returned to his spiritual home last June after a six-year absence. Between 2005 and 2016, he served as Scientific Games’ enterprise chief technology officer (CTO) and president of lottery systems group, so he already knows the business pretty well. While the company may have changed hands in that time, his knowledge of the industry is second to none, and has only been enhanced by his recent stint as CTO for rival Inspired. His 40-year industry experience also includes seven years as CTO for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and 12 years as vice president of software at GTECH (now part of IGT). He is the perfect fit for Scientific Games as the supplier expands further into the digital era and looks to enhance its existing product lines under a new leadership team.
